Business Ownership More Appealing with the Shaky Job Market

It is no secret that these are, to say the least, tough economic times. With fuel and food prices rising seemingly daily and an economy that is on the downswing, money is more scarce than ever for some people. Adding to this potential recession is the the job market which is becoming scarier each day and I am speaking of those who are currently employed. The national unemployment rate rose to 5.1% in February, which was the highest since Hurricane Katrina in September of 2005. Employers in the U.S. cut jobs for the third straight month and the Labor Department’s most recent report showed a loss of 80,000 jobs last month. The Department estimates that 232,000 have been shed in the the first quarter of this year. John Silva, chief economist for Wachovia estimates that there will be job loss until August. What are these newly unemployed people to do? With expenses higher than ever and showing no signs of slowing down, business ownership could be the way to go in these tough economic times.

A lot of us have always been told that business ownership is too risky, but I would venture those people to ask the nearly quarter of a million now unemployed people about how secure the job market is. Because of the now apparent instability of the job market, more and more people are getting involved in network marketing. It offers the ability to be in control and not have to worry about being fired. Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki are supporters of network marketing. In their new book, “Why We Want You To Be Rich”, Kiyosaki says, “A true network-marketing business is the exact opposite of a traditional business model. A network-marketing business is designed to bring you up to the top, not keep you down at the bottom. A true network marketing business does not succeed unless it brings people up to the top” Trump has this to say: “Network marketing has proven itself to be a viable and rewarding source of income, and the challenges could be just right for you. There have been some remarkable examples of success, and those successes have been earned through diligence, enthusiasm and the right product combined with the right timing….My nutshell advice about network marketing is to do your research and then put everything you’ve got into your product. Genuine enthusiasm is hard to beat, and the odds will be with you.

I think more people should really take a look at this industry and see what is out there and the opportunities that may be there for them. I know of some people who have been very successful in that industry just as I know some people who have not. But with economic times not improving anytime soon, many people may see this as a very viable opportunity for themselves. For more information, please go to
